Description
Myocardial infarction (MI) is one of the top causes of death worldwide. Unfortunately, our poor knowledge of the pathophysiological substrates underlying the development of this process limits our progress in the development of an effective treatment for this disease, and no effective specific cure for end-stage MI exists except for heart transplantation. In this context, CARDIO-INTERACTOME is focused on the description of the cellular landscape of the infarcted heart within the first week after a myocardial infarction. To do that, we are combining different high trough put technologies, such as scRNASeq and Spatial Transcripctomics, with a plethora of transgenic mice to trace different subpopulation of the cardiac cellular interstitium. Mapping the cellular landscape of the earliest phases of post-MI ventricular remodelling will be proven to be essential for the discovery of new targets for specific therapeutics and the development of personalized treatments for this condition.
